A young mezzo-soprano with a strikingly rich and powerful voice, Ms. Flaxman is happy to make her first appearance with the North Shore Music Festival this summer as Lola (Cavelleria Rusticana). This fall she can be seen as La Frugola (Il Tabarro) with Garden State Opera and La Principessa (Suor Angelica) with Golden Rose Opera Works. She’ll also be appearing in concert with the New Jersey Music Society.
Recent roles include Meg Page (Falstaff) with Utopia Opera, Carmen with Golden Rose Opera Works, Flora (La Traviata) with Bronx Opera and Zita (Gianni Schicchi) with Ralynmor Opera. She performs around the city with Opera on Tap, and can be heard on the American Center for Contemporary Opera’s recent recording of “Is Paris Burning?”
When Ms. Flaxman isn’t singing you’ll usually find her on a yoga mat. She is a certified teacher and has delighted in bringing her two passions together as a guest instructor at The Castleton Festival and Opera NEO.
