ADELMO GUIDARELLI is the 2011 MAC Award winner for Best Comedy/Musical Comedy Performer for his one-man show “Operation Adelmo – The Clown Prince of Opera” He was also selected by Ryan Seacrest to present Mozart’s “Non più andrai” on the E! Channel series Bank of Hollywood, produced in a joint venture with the BBC. Referred to as “one of the up-and-coming baritones of the decade” by Jerome Hines, his voice has been critically acclaimed by journalists from around the globe as confident, commanding, relevant, brilliant, breathtaking, and romantically enticing. Mr. Guidarelli has worked with such operatic legends as, Lucianno Pavarotti, Gulietta Simionato, Licia Albanese, Sherrill Milnes and Robert Merrill. He has performed in Europe with Opera Evreux of France, as soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana in Imola, Italy, at The Vatican before Pope John Paul II, for Queen Elizabeth, as well as Spain, Portugal and Germany.
In the US he has appeared as Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Leporello in Don Giovanni, Gianni Schicchi in Gianni Schicchi, Silvio & Tonio in Pagliacci, Valentine in Faust, Marcello in La Boheme, Figaro and Don Bartolo in The Barber of Seville, and Papageno in The Magic Flute, to name a few.
His one-man show “Operation Adelmo – The Clown Prince of Opera” is an acclaimed family entertainment show that takes you on a song filled journey into his world of music and mayhem – a world that critics have compared to Victor Borge and Anna Russell. It’s an elegant evening of irony and arias which has played to standing ovations wherever it’s been presented, including The 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, The New York Fringe Festival, Las Vegas, Rome, and of course, New Jersey.
As a recording artist his voice was heard on a national US radio commercial for Lidia’s Italian Gourmet Kitchen. He is a featured soloist on a German CD called “Der kleine Tanzbar Schubidu”, and his debut CD titled “Treasured Songs of Italy & Germany” has given him the opportunity to become a voting member of The Recording Academy, an annual participant at the Grammy Awards and spawned an International Association of Independent Recording Artists (IAIRA) certified International #1 hit for his dual language version of “Funiculi, Funicula”.
Mr. Guidarelli co-hosted the RCN TV talk show “Voices Among Us” which was also available for viewing on the internet. After a lively interview, guests got a chance to sing a duet with the versatile virtuoso, Adelmo Guidarelli. Notable guests include Renata Scotto, Kitty Carlisle Hart (in her final appearance), Ben Vereen, Margaret Whiting, Julie Wilson, and Andrea Marcovicci.
He has been hailed as a polished professional with an incredible voice and charming ability to win over any age audience. He is equally at home in a concert hall, club, or festival setting. He brings with him his Metropolitan Opera training and charisma to every performance.
He has been the recipient of career grants from The Schuyler Foundation for Career Bridges, The Amadeus Fund, The Bloomfield chapter of UNICO, The New Jersey Alliance for Performing Artists, The Columbians, The Caruso International Voice Competition, and from Richard and Donna Esteves.
